Bittinger Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce that five dedicated members have successfully completed rigorous wildland firefighter training at the 2024 Mid Atlantic Wildland Fire Academy. The members completed courses L-180, S190, and S130, meeting the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) requirements for Wildland Firefighter Type II (FFT2) certification.

With these certifications, our members are now eligible to take the annual pack test to obtain their red cards. This qualification allows them to list their availability and deploy on wildfire missions across the country as needed, in collaboration with Maryland Forestry crews.

"We are incredibly proud of our members for their dedication and hard work." "Their commitment to advancing their skills and readiness to respond to wildland fires exemplifies our department's mission to provide the highest level of service and protection to our community and beyond."

Congratulations to all members who completed the training. Your achievements are a testament to your dedication and perseverance.
